The director of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, Blanca Sorigué, addressed the Barcelona Woman Acceleration Week this March 5, focusing on gender equality within major corporations.

During the BWAW sessions, Blanca Sorigué pointed out that women currently occupy only 19% of CEO roles. Based on current trends, experts estimate that true parity in leadership will not be achieved until 2051.

"If women are not in charge, things are not going to change."

The conference also explored the role of media and technology. Isabel Pérez from Novartis noted that female representation in the tech sector stands at just 31%, highlighting the urgent need to attract and retain female talent.
Leaders such as Alicia Valle from Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat and Mabel Mas from El Periódico emphasized that while talent exists, it must be sought out intentionally to break historical male dominance in certain industries.
