The fire alert was received at 3:25 PM and necessitated the confinement of the Can Caralleu neighborhood. According to municipal sources, firefighting efforts have progressed favorably, with Albert Batlle, Deputy Mayor of Barcelona, announcing that the fire has been stabilized.
At least three helicopters participated in the extinguishing efforts, in addition to ground crews. The fire generated a smoke column visible from various parts of the city, prompting a thousand calls to 112. Initially, the sea breeze rapidly pushed the flames through the vegetation, but nearby roads acted as firebreaks.
The Collserola Park Consortium reported monitoring the situation from the fire prevention center. The watchtower keeper at Sant Pere Màrtir was evacuated as a precaution. All forest roads and paths in the area are closed, and the Arrabassada road is blocked in the direction of Sant Cugat.
Just this Friday, the Barcelona City Council had activated the Municipal Action Plan for Forest Fire Risk in alert phase, given that the Generalitat had placed the Barcelonès region at Level 3 of the Alfa Plan, indicating a very high fire risk.
