The Govern led by Salvador Illa and the Comuns party have reached an agreement in Barcelona to expand rent subsidies and create a sexual health voucher for young people.

Negotiations for the Generalitat Budgets are moving forward with a new pact that allocates an additional 107 million euros to rent subsidies. This measure will raise the family income threshold for eligibility from the current 25,000 euros to 36,279 euros. The goal is to cover 50,000 new households, reaching a total of 145,000 families across Catalonia.
Regarding the maximum rental prices to qualify for aid, limits will be updated to reflect market reality. In the city of Barcelona, the cap will be set at 1,135 euros, while in the rest of the Catalan territory, the limit will be 855 euros. Direct aid can reach a maximum of 200 euros per month per family unit.

"It is a sexual education tool; sexually transmitted diseases have increased. It is not a measure that seeks to polarize."

Additionally, the agreement includes the creation of a 25-euro annual voucher for young people aged 12 to 25. This voucher can be used for menstrual products and, for those aged 16 to 25, also for condoms. This initiative aims to broaden access to reproductive health and curb the rise of sexually transmitted infections among the youth.
