This initiative, which includes agents operating in plain clothes in some cases, primarily aims at prevention, accompaniment, and intervention in situations that require it. The goal is to anticipate potential conflicts and offer direct support within the educational environment.
The measure arises in response to the increase in violence in educational centers and addresses a growing demand from teachers. Educators have expressed the need for more tools to ensure an adequate climate of coexistence and to reinforce the well-being of both students and teaching staff.
The project will initially be implemented in several Catalan localities. These include L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Vic, Alta Ribagorça-Val d'Aran, and Tàrrega. Additionally, it will be deployed in two further educational centers located in El Prat de Llobregat and Sabadell.
This strategy is not isolated, as, according to OECD data, approximately half of developed countries already have similar programs. These programs foster collaboration between educational centers and security forces for preventive and community purposes. In Spain, up to nine autonomous communities, such as Galicia, Navarra, Andalusia, Madrid, or the Balearic Islands, have already implemented initiatives of this type.
