The Government of Catalonia launched a public participation process this Monday to develop the Coastal Protection and Management Plan, a strategic document aimed at safeguarding the shoreline until 2100.

The plan introduces integrated management for the entire coastal strip, affecting nearly 90 municipalities. Throughout March, technical workshops and public sessions will be held in Barcelona and other coastal regions to gather input from citizens and local administrations.
Key objectives include climate risk adaptation, ecosystem recovery, and the deployment of green infrastructure. The final proposal is expected to be drafted by 2027, with definitive approval scheduled for 2028, ensuring a long-term sustainable vision for the Mediterranean coast.
