This initiative, resulting from negotiations between the Government and the Comuns, aims to support individuals who, while not at imminent risk of exclusion, need assistance to cover rent payments. This measure is expected to expand coverage to approximately 40,000 new family units, thanks to increased annual income and maximum rent thresholds.
To access this aid, the primary requirement is to be between 36 and 64 years old. Additionally, the applicant's maximum annual income cannot exceed 36,279.32 euros, a figure that quadruples the Catalonia Sufficiency Income Indicator.
The maximum allowed rent for housing varies by geographical area. In Barcelona city and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), the limit is 1,000 euros per month. In the rest of the province of Barcelona and in Girona, the cap is 750 euros. In Tarragona, it remains at 700 euros, while in Lleida and the Terres de l'Ebre, it is 600 euros.
For room rentals, the caps are also adjusted: 750 euros in Barcelona and the AMB, 350 euros in the rest of the province of Barcelona, 400 euros in the Girona demarcation, 350 euros in Tarragona, and 300 euros in Lleida. For large families, single-parent families, or those with recognized disabled members, the limits are higher, reaching 1,100 euros in Barcelona and the AMB, and 900 euros in the rest of the territory.
The aid amount will range from a minimum of 50 euros to a maximum of 200 euros, exceeding the 20 euros from the previous call. The final amount will be determined based on income and the financial burden that rent represents for each applicant.
Applications can be submitted online through the Generalitat de Catalunya's Tràmits website or in person at the specified locations in the call. The deadline for submitting applications will open next week and close on April 30.
