This international distinction, awarded in 47 countries across five continents, assesses environmental management, bathing area safety, facility quality, service provision, and environmental information and education. The number of awarded beaches remains the same as in 2025, while the number of ports increases with the port of Sitges-Aiguadolç regaining its label after renovation works.
By region, the Girona counties account for 27 beaches with Blue Flags, followed by Barcelona with 24, Penedès with 23, Tarragona with 23, and the Terres de l'Ebre with 8. Regarding ports, Girona has 9, Barcelona 8, Tarragona 4, and the Terres de l'Ebre 3, including those in l'Ametlla de Mar, l'Ampolla, and la Ràpita.
As a novelty, this year a pilot program has been implemented with the Blue Center distinction, recognizing 15 Catalan centers that promote the values of natural ecosystems and raise public awareness about environmental issues.
