The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, announced on March 11, 2026, the permanent closure of Collserola Natural Park in Barcelona due to a new case of African Swine Fever.

The decision upgrades previous nighttime restrictions to a full-time closure of all park entrances starting this Thursday. While the general public is barred from entry, local residents and workers will still be allowed to travel through the area.

"It was something to be expected. We are acting and experts are working globally across the park."

Currently, 18 municipalities are within the high-risk zone. Since the beginning of 2026, authorities have culled 13,500 wild boars across Catalonia for testing purposes, resulting in 216 confirmed cases of the disease.
Despite the outbreak in the wild population, no cases have been reported in domestic pig farms, indicating that containment measures are currently protecting the local livestock industry.
