The Government of Catalonia has ordered the closure of Collserola Park in Barcelona this March 13 following the detection of new swine fever cases among the local wild boar population.

The Secretary General of Agriculture, Cristina Massot, has urged those who must enter the park for daily routines to disinfect shoe soles and vehicle tires with bleach. This measure aims to prevent the virus from spreading through contact with infected areas in the forest.

"We must clean those surfaces that may be in contact with virus remains."

The restrictions do not apply to the 15.000 residents, workers, or students in the area. While Tibidabo Amusement Park remains open, access to the popular Carretera de les Aigües is restricted. Deputy Mayor Albert Batlle called for public responsibility to ensure safety.
