The Collserola park will remain closed throughout the summer due to African swine fever, as confirmed by the Deputy Mayor for Security of the Barcelona City Council, Albert Batlle.

The deputy mayor indicated that the current restriction measures will be maintained during the hottest months to safeguard the natural environment, wildlife, and the livestock sector. This decision comes after the confirmation of two new cases of wild boars testing positive for African swine fever in Molins de Rei and Castellbisbal.
The summer forest campaign for the Barcelona Fire Department will focus particularly on Collserola, with an increase in human and material resources to improve response times to potential forest fires. A drill is planned in Torre Baró to test operational response in urban-forest interface areas.
The councilor acknowledged the "inconveniences" the closure causes for citizens but stressed its necessity for protecting natural and livestock heritage. Since the outbreak began, 5,548 wild boars have been analyzed, with 322 positive cases.
The head of the City Council's Fire Department, Sebastià Massagué, recalled that 85% of fires are human-caused, and the restrictions in Collserola could help reduce the risk of forest fires.
