In Coma-ruga, residents and visitors are busy this Sunday removing unusable items after the downpour that hit the seaside district in the early hours of Saturday. The Baix Penedès and Tarragonès regions were particularly affected by the storm.
In front of the Maramar hotel, where Firefighters had to intervene to pump out water mixed with chlorine tablets, numerous tourists waited for tow trucks to take away their cars. Some affected individuals noted a lack of information from the hotel and had to share updates among themselves.
Hotel Maramar's cleaning staff worked on Sunday morning to remove water and mud marks from the ground floor. Guests managed vehicle removals while collecting their belongings.
Insurance company operators worked against the clock to clear the numerous waterlogged cars from the streets. Some French tourists criticized the lack of warning and the absence of the ES-Alert, stating they would have moved their cars if they had been notified.
Other affected individuals, like Elena Pérez from Saragossa, took the situation more calmly. Although her car was rendered unusable, her family decided to continue their holiday. "We've taken it calmly because fortunately, we are fine, and that's important to value," she explained.
In contrast, María Pilar Auqué's family decided to cut their stay short. After attempting to arrange car collection on Saturday, they handed over the keys to a mechanic for removal when possible.
Regarding the chlorine incident in the hotel car park, Auqué mentioned that guests were asked not to open their windows.
