Mayor Jaume Collboni confirmed this Friday that Barcelona has achieved a 7% reduction in property crimes during 2025, marking a second year of improvement.

The overall criminality in Barcelona fell by 6.1% last year. The most significant drop was seen in thefts, which decreased by 7.6%. Authorities credit specific enforcement strategies, such as Plan Kanpai, for tackling repeat offenders who were responsible for thousands of arrests throughout the year.

"It is clear proof that the measures we have deployed are delivering results."

Despite the positive trend in robberies, the report highlights a 23% increase in incidents involving knives and a 4.4% rise in sexual assaults. Drug trafficking cases also grew by 27%, which officials link to increased police activity and more successful interventions against local networks.
