This Sunday, Catalonia remains without Rodalies or Regional service after the Government of the Generalitat urged Renfe and Adif to suspend operations to guarantee network safety. At Sants station in Barcelona, screens initially showed active trains, increasing confusion among users unaware of the latest suspension.
Many travelers who were unaware of the suspension arrived at the stations expecting to catch a train. At Fabra i Puig station, a key point for interurban buses, passengers complained about the lack of reinforced road transport and criticized the non-acceptance of train passes.
“"Work is underway to restore train circulation as soon as possible, even starting midday, but inspections are complex due to the network's extension."
The situation of bewilderment was repeated in cities like Manresa, Lleida, and Tarragona, where users had to resort to FGC, private vehicles, or high-speed trains. In Tarragona, travelers reported that the price of the AVE ticket was triple the usual fare. The Falset City Council provided a free bus to Barcelona to alleviate the lack of service.
The Government has reinforced the interurban bus offer by 175% between Barcelona, the Maresme, and the Vallès Occidental, and has requested operators to make the service free until full normality is restored. The decision on resuming the service, suspended since 1:00 PM Saturday, will be made after the meeting this Sunday between the Government, Adif, and Renfe.
