The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is organizing the third edition of its open-air film series, CSIC de Cine, in Barcelona. The Catalan venue will once again be the Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC), with the new addition of the Marine Technology Unit (UTM-CSIC). In Madrid, the series reaches its fifth edition.
In Barcelona, the screening on Friday September 18th will take place on the terrace of the ICM-CSIC and will feature 'Los tigres', a film directed by Alberto Rodríguez. The movie, starring Antonio de la Torre and Bárbara Lennie, tells the story of two diver siblings caught in a suspenseful plot after making risky decisions. The film won the Goya Award for Best Special Effects.
Before the screening, a discussion in Catalan will be held with CSIC researchers. Jordi Sorribas (director of the UTM-CSIC), Aurora Ricart, and Jordi Solé (researchers from the ICM-CSIC) will discuss the conditions of working at sea, scientific diving, the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems, and ocean dynamics.
The series places a special emphasis on inclusion and accessibility. All sessions are free and include a Catalan sign language interpreter, live subtitling, and an audio description option for the film. The screening venue is accessible and equipped with a hearing loop. Individuals with special needs can request information and tickets at inclusion@csic.es.
The Barcelona session has 120 free seats available with prior reservation via Eventbrite. Doors open at 7:00 PM, the discussion with researchers begins at 7:30 PM, and the screening starts shortly after 8:30 PM. The ICM-CSIC is located at Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta, 37-49.
In Madrid, CSIC de Cine will screen 'Yo no moriré de amor' (September 11th), 'Incontrolable' (September 18th), and 'La cena' (September 25th), addressing topics such as caregiving, historical memory, and the medical and social implications of Alzheimer's and Tourette's syndrome.
