The City Council of Barcelona has launched a summer campaign to enhance the external image of establishments on La Rambla, aiming to ensure compliance with municipal ordinances.

From July to September, municipal teams from the Ciutat Vella District and the Municipal Institute of Urban Landscape (IMPU) are reviewing compliance with urban landscape, consumer, and commerce ordinances for ground-floor commercial and restaurant establishments on La Rambla. The goal is to facilitate voluntary adaptation by businesses and correct potential regulatory deficiencies.
This initial phase includes technical advice, information on grants and subsidies for improving commercial image and facades, and linguistic advisory services to promote the use of Catalan. Subsequently, starting in October, an inspection campaign will begin for establishments that have not yet complied.
The deputy mayor and councilor for the Ciutat Vella District, Albert Batlle, emphasized that this initiative is part of the City Council's commitment to the comprehensive transformation of La Rambla, seeking the involvement of economic operators to improve the quality and identity of the public space.
The campaign is also part of the overall renovation of La Rambla, which includes measures such as the creation of the first Terrace Excellence Zone and the reorganization of bird and flower vendor stalls.
