The church of Sant Llorenç de Das, closed for seven years, will reopen its doors on August 10th with an interior completely transformed by the work of Cerdanya artist Penélope Clot, inspired by the Perseids.

Cerdanya artist Penélope Clot is breathing new life into the interior of the Sant Llorenç de Das church, an emblematic village space where she grew up. After seven years of closure, the temple's reopening will feature a new pictorial work simulating a sky of stars and emotions, inspired by the Perseid meteor shower.
This project, celebrating the roots, heritage, and creativity of Cerdanya, began two years ago as a dream. The exterior rehabilitation of the church, which showed significant facade cracks, commenced in 2022.
The interior painting has been made possible through the collaboration of the Das town council, the Bishopric of Urgell, and financial support from the Bosch Aymerich Foundation, owner of the Masella ski resort.
The inauguration is scheduled for August 10th, coinciding with the feast day of Saint Lawrence, the patron saint of the municipality.
Penélope Clot, born in 1975, has her studio in the old barn of Cal Pel-ras, her great-grandparents' family home in Das. Her artistic training includes studies in Japanese lacquer and engraving at the Escola Massana in Barcelona, as well as drawing and perspective at the Escola Da Vinci. Since 1997, she has professionally dedicated herself to the restoration of artworks and antique furniture, a career path reflected in her current work, characterized by the layering of techniques, supports, transparencies, and the use of elements like craquelure and patinas.
