Municipal sources justified the action due to "serious security, sanitation, and coexistence problems" detected in the area. The settlement's location, close to Fire Department facilities and main roads, was another key reason to "reclaim the space" for security purposes.
The operation also involves social services, cleaning crews, the Public Health Agency, the Barcelona Emergency Social Response Centre (CUESB), and addiction specialists from Sala Baluard.
