The Mossos d’Esquadra, in collaboration with the National Police and the Gendarmerie, have dismantled an international criminal organization allegedly linked to violent robberies committed in jewelry stores in France. The investigation, coordinated by Europol, has resulted in the arrest of three individuals.
One of the arrests took place in Barcelona, where a 34-year-old man was apprehended at a residence on charges related to public health offenses. During the search, five mobile phones and over 3 kg of ketamine were seized. Additionally, one person was arrested in Orihuela (Alicante) and another in Sweden, where further mobile phone terminals relevant to the investigation were also confiscated.
According to police inquiries, the criminal group is believed to be involved in violent robberies at jewelry stores in the French region of Brittany during 2024. Two heists occurred on March 1st and 6th in the towns of Bayeux and Belfort. In one of the incidents, the perpetrators stole jewelry worth 300,000 euros from a jewelry representative.
Law enforcement highlighted the importance of international police cooperation due to the group's cross-border mobility, which has enabled the collection of key evidence to advance the investigation into these events.
