The investigation, conducted between March 2025 and May 2026, resulted in the arrest of 9 individuals and the investigation of 2 others, allegedly responsible for crimes against public health and professional misconduct. The operation focused on centers using unauthorized medical products and failing to adhere to proper transport and storage conditions.
During the raids, approximately 10,000 doses of Botox and over 200 vials of hyaluronic acid were discovered. Additionally, 115,000 euros, believed to be illicit profits, were seized. Operations were carried out in four Spanish provinces: Biscay, Las Palmas, Asturias, and Catalonia (L’Hospitalet and Cornellà).
Those involved include individuals lacking medical training as well as licensed professionals who allegedly performed treatments with illegal products in unauthorized facilities. The investigation began after packages containing medicines and medical products, primarily from South Korea and Vietnam, were detected at Foronda Airport in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Authorities warn of the severe risks associated with undergoing aesthetic procedures performed by unqualified personnel or in unauthorized centers. Potential consequences include infections, severe allergic reactions, facial paralysis, or permanent disfigurement.
