A man has been arrested in Barcelona by the National Police on suspicion of selling fake prior appointments for residence permit renewals. The individual posed as the head of a management company on social media, demanding a payment of 67.50 euros via a bank account he provided.
According to information from the police force, the man sent victims fake appointment confirmations. When victims discovered the fraud and requested a refund, he would provide a supposed transfer receipt, falsely claiming to have reimbursed the money.
Police located and arrested the suspect, who has prior convictions for fraud in various courts across the country. He faces charges of fraud and document forgery and has been handed over to the duty investigating court at the location of his arrest.
