A man wanted by Russia for crimes of homicide, robbery, and possession of weapons and explosives for over twenty years has been arrested in Barcelona.

The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) arrested an individual on Wednesday, June 10th, who had an active international arrest warrant. The man had checked into a hotel in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona, which triggered an alert and led to his location.
According to confirmed reports, the detainee is accused of crimes including intentional homicide, robbery, and illegal possession of weapons and explosives, offenses allegedly committed over two decades ago in Russia.
Upon receiving the notification, the Catalan police officers verified the international arrest warrant and organized a operation to ensure the arrest before the fugitive could leave the city.
The man is to be brought before the Audiencia Nacional (National Court), the body responsible for processing international arrest warrants and extradition proceedings.
