Officers caught the individuals on August 3rd near two underground network access pits. Two of the detainees, aged between 26 and 43, were tampering with the wiring inside, while the other two were cutting it and loading it into a van.
To try and go unnoticed, the men wore clothing similar to that of telecommunications workers, including helmets and gloves. Although they attempted to convince officers they were performing authorized tasks, they could not present any documentation to prove it.
During the search of the van, the Mossos found nearly 60 meters of coiled copper cable and about 20 more meters uncoiled, along with fencing and work tools. Police investigation suggests this theft may have caused disruptions to telecommunication services for residents and businesses in the area.
