The protest, part of a strike day in the Barcelonès region, was called by unions such as CGT, Intersindical, and COS, who are maintaining the action despite a pre-agreement reached on Friday. Demonstrators, wearing yellow t-shirts and carrying protest banners, walked from Plaça d’Urquinaona and set up desks and chairs in front of the main entrance of Casa Batlló.
Around 9:10 AM, the teachers blocked traffic on Passeig de Gràcia at the intersection with Aragó Street, causing significant disruptions to local mobility. One prominent banner read: “Illa rectify, public education is in danger,” addressing the Minister of Education.
Early in the morning, several bicycle rides were organized across the city as a prelude to the main protest. One of these started at Passeig de Fabra i Puig with about a hundred bicycles, blocking Avinguda de la Meridiana. Another cycling march was planned from the Campana area on Gran Via.
At noon, a unified demonstration is scheduled, organized by CGT, Intersindical, COS, CNT, and the Assemblea Educativa de Catalunya. This march will begin at Palau Robert and conclude at the Consorci de Barcelona.
