The main concern is the simultaneous return of attendees, which could cause significant congestion, especially on secondary roads. Visitors are urged not to stop on the hard shoulder or the road to watch the eclipse and to wait before starting their return journey.
In the Balearic Islands, a special operation will affect about twenty roads leading to natural spaces, lighthouses, and viewpoints. Restrictions will generally apply between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM, with possible extensions depending on visitor numbers. In Mallorca, controls will be in place on sections of the Ma-10, Ma-19, and access roads to locations like Sant Elm and Formentor. The Ma-10 in the Serra de Tramuntana will restrict general traffic from 3:00 PM, allowing access only for residents and public transport.
In Menorca, traffic will be altered in Ciutadella and Mercadal, with access closures to the Punta Nati lighthouse. In Ibiza, restrictions will affect roads to Cala Comte and Cala Bassa, while in Formentera, access to Cap de Barbaria and Cala Saona will be limited.
In Catalonia, travel will concentrate in the Camp de Tarragona, Terres de l'Ebre, and Ponent regions. The Servei Català de Trànsit anticipates special regulations in L'Ampolla, Deltebre, and Amposta. The AP-7 motorway will be a critical point, with a ban on hazardous goods transport vehicles heading south between Martorell and Ulldecona from 5:00 PM to midnight. The N-340 will have similar restrictions.
From 2:00 PM, freight vehicles and larger buses must travel in the right lane at a maximum of 80 km/h without overtaking on the AP-7 between Ulldecona and El Vendrell in both directions. The C-25 and A-2 are recommended for travel to Ponent. Motorized access to the natural parks of Els Ports and Serra de Montsant will also be restricted.
In La Franja (Aragon), sporadic closures and diversions will be implemented on roads to manage vehicle accumulation. In the Valencian Community, there will be closures on the V-15 and CV-500 between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM. The Albufera natural park will remain closed, and access to Valencia's seafront will be restricted.
In Andorra, the road to the Port de Cabús will be closed between 5:00 PM and midnight for an organized event, with parking provided at the Coll de la Botella. In Northern Catalonia, no special traffic measures are planned.
