The march, which took place this Thursday at noon, went through the city center, from Jardinets de Gràcia to the Spanish government delegation. This mobilization is part of a nationwide strike in the 0-3 educational sector.
“"Administrations are passing the buck. Funding is essential and must come from the Generalitat; we are tired of being under an umbrella with five management models that only precarious workers and children."
Among the main demands of the collective are the need to lower student-to-teacher ratios per classroom and the provision of more resources to ensure quality care for children. Emphasis has also been placed on salary dignification, equal working conditions, and improvements in occupational health and professional recognition.
Plataforma 0-3 has indicated that the state education law, Lomloe, offers the possibility of modifying ratios, and has therefore urged the Spanish government to act. Likewise, it has asked local councils, which manage most public nursery schools in Catalonia, and autonomous communities to assume their responsibilities and provide the necessary funding.
This strike day marks the beginning of a month of mobilizations in the education sector. Until June 5, various strike days will alternate by territory, two more stoppages at the Catalonia level, and a new specific 0-3 strike on May 20.
