The Barcelona Education Consortium has officially ratified the closure of the performing arts baccalaureate at the Vila de Gràcia Institute, citing a structural surplus of vacant spots across the city.

The decision affects both Vila de Gràcia and Pedralbes institutes, where classes currently operate with only 16 students. Authorities aim to consolidate the artistic curriculum into six specialized centers to ensure better resources and diversity for the students.

"We will convey to the Department the need for the performing arts baccalaureate to remain at Vila de Gràcia."

The school's parents association (AFA) argues that the small group size is a sign of quality rather than a failure. Meanwhile, the Barcelona City Council also announced a 1.4 million euro investment to renovate the Vallcarca viaduct by late 2026.
