Public school teachers in Catalonia have overwhelmingly rejected the labor and salary improvement agreement signed last Monday between the Department of Education and the CC OO and UGT unions.

A survey conducted by the Ustec, CGT, and Intersindical unions shows that 40,780 teachers—representing 94.9% of respondents—oppose the deal. This internal conflict has led to reports of harassment and hostility within schools, prompting the Generalitat to issue a formal request to school principals to maintain a climate of respect and tolerance.

"Being afraid to go to work because your union signed an agreement is very serious. There is hatred."

Lorena Martínez · Head of Public Education at UGT Catalonia
The rejection has solidified plans for a week of strikes starting this Monday in Barcelona and Baix Llobregat. The protests will escalate throughout the week, ending in a region-wide general education strike on Friday, March 20th.
