The price update comes one day after public transport in the Barcelona area rose by 3.5%, although subsidies remain in place. BSM noted that Bicing fares had not been modified since the launch of the new Bicing in 2019. The two annual subscriptions (flat rate of 50 euros and usage rate of 35 euros) remain unchanged.
The most significant increases affect electric bicycle journeys for flat-rate users. The cost for the first half hour rises from 0.35 to 0.40 cents (a 14.29% increase). For journeys between 30 minutes and two hours, the price has increased from 0.90 cents to 1.04 euros, representing a 15.56% rise.
Regarding mechanical vehicles, the increase is also notable. Users will pay 0,81 cents per trip up to two hours, compared to the 0,70 cents it cost the previous year. This increase represents a rise of 15.71%, the highest percentage variation applied.
The unification of the Bicing and AMBbici services will be studied starting in 2029, coinciding with the new municipal service contract.
Currently, Bicing has over 164,000 subscribers in Barcelona, with a fleet of 8.000 bicycles and 557 stations. The network is planned to grow with 36 new stops throughout 2026, with 30% of these located in districts such as Sarrià-Sant Gervasi or Horta-Guinardó. Last year, more than 9.1 million uses were registered.
