Open-air cinema returns to Barcelona this summer with the Sala Montjuïc proposal, offering 16 nights of screenings, concerts, and gastronomy at Montjuïc Castle.

With the arrival of the summer season, the Catalan capital is preparing to once again host one of its most popular activities: open-air cinema. Sala Montjuïc, an initiative by the MODIband Cultural Association that began in 2003, has established itself as a benchmark, offering a complete experience that combines film screenings with live musical performances and a varied gastronomic offer, all set against the privileged views from Montjuïc Castle.
This year's program will kick off on July 10 with the film Flores para Antonio and will conclude on August 5 with a surprise screening. Featured titles include award-winning films such as Los domingos, Sirat, and Una batalla tras otra. Film sessions begin at 10 PM, but from 8:45 PM, attendees can also enjoy concerts that complement the film's theme, such as a rumba show for the opening night or an electronic music performance for Óliver Laxe's screening.
Tickets are now available through the official organization's website. There are two price options: nine euros for admission without a deckchair and twelve euros for admission with a deckchair, plus a 0.50 euro management fee. Carnet Jove holders can benefit from a one-euro discount on either option.
The surroundings of Montjuïc Castle, with its historic murals and elevated location, provide an unparalleled setting for this event. The cool mountain breeze and the tranquility of the place contribute to making each session a unique experience, ideal for those seeking an alternative to the hustle and bustle of the beach and pool during summer nights.
