The festival, which merges cinema and psychology, will screen 25 selected works from a total of 430 submissions, the highest number in its eleven-year history. The short films will compete in the Fiction and Documentary categories, as well as for the Audience Award, voted on by attendees.
Screenings will be held in Tarragona (Antiga Audiència) and Reus (Teatre Bartrina) on Friday, October 8th at 7 PM and Saturday, October 9th at 6 PM. The program presentation, featuring actors such as Emma Vilarasau, Tristán Ulloa, Mabel Lozano, and Carlos Bardem, took place this Tuesday at the Teatre Tarragona.
“"It is a jewel for both cities."
Sandra Ramos highlighted the festival's growing necessity and the importance of discussing emotional health and its taboos. Also present at the launch were Anabel Martínez (Councillor for Services to People and Social Rights of the Reus City Council), Daniel Recasens (Councillor for Culture and Linguistic Policy of the Reus City Council), and Jaume Descarrega (Director of Psicurt). All agreed on the significance of raising awareness about mental illnesses and fostering participatory culture.
The selected works explore themes such as psychosis, identity, aesthetic pressure, stigma, family trauma, sexual assault, taboos, youth rebellion, nostalgia, and reconciliation, as well as the work of psychology and psychiatry professionals.
The festival also includes the Educurt Award, aimed at secondary and vocational training students, to encourage youth reflection on mental health and emotional well-being. In addition to film screenings, parallel free activities such as theater and dance, followed by discussions, are scheduled. The full program and registration details are available on the festival's website.
