On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the venue announced its forced closure to meet the necessary regulations for concert halls. After an intense period of work and management, music has once again filled this emblematic place.
“"The process to reopen has been very hard, very frustrating and full of work, but at the same time also gratifying, because it has allowed us to confirm the importance of the venue and the community that has been created around it."
The works included improving emergency exits, installing firewalls to prevent the spread of fires to neighboring warehouses, and a complete renovation of the electrical system to ensure it is low voltage. Additionally, professional engineers were consulted to ensure compliance with all current regulations.
To finance these improvements, the venue launched a crowdfunding campaign that raised nearly 20,000 euros, supplemented by a solidarity party organized at the Razzmatazz venue.
“"Here, no one judges anyone; we come to play, DJ, sing, dance, and do things that make us feel good."
The reopening was celebrated on Saturday, May 9, with a big party that brought together artists and friends of the venue, many of whom have grown professionally thanks to the project and continue to return to El Pumarejo despite performing throughout Europe. The space is considered an "incubator" for artists and a connection point for underground music in Barcelona.
