The city of Barcelona will host the start of the Tour de France on Saturday, June 4, with a 19.7-kilometer team time trial.

The first stage, which can be followed live on betevé's DTT channel, will begin at Fòrum and conclude on Montjuïc hill, presenting a spectacular route through the city's streets.
One of the notable novelties of this inaugural stage is the modification of the team time trial format. Traditionally, the team's time was based on the time recorded by a set number of riders, often the first five from each formation. On this occasion, times will be recorded individually for each cyclist.
This adaptation will allow each rider to manage their effort independently, even on key sections like the ascent to Montjuïc, where a rider like Tadej Pogacar could choose to tackle the challenge without direct team support, with their personal time being recorded.
