Several Catalan pro-independence entities, including ANC and Òmnium, have called for a reception for Pope Leo XIV at the Sagrada Familia on June 10, featuring Catalan flags and demanding the blessing of the Tower of Jesus be in Catalan.

The Catalan National Assembly (ANC), Òmnium Cultural, the Council of the Republic, the Association of Municipalities for Independence (AMI), and the Lliga Espiritual have joined forces to organize a protest reception for the pontiff during his visit to the Sagrada Familia basilica. The call, disseminated via social media, urges citizens to attend with Catalan flags (estelades) under the slogan "Let the Pope know and let the world see it."
Pope Leo XIV's visit is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10. After traveling a section of Rosselló street in the popemobile, the pontiff will hold a mass inside the basilica and bless the Tower of Jesus. This event has sparked controversy due to the Pope's intention to perform the blessing in Spanish, prompting a reaction from Catalan entities.
The ANC issued a strong statement via its Twitter account: "In Catalonia, in Catalan. Come with the estelada. We want independence." This mobilization aims to highlight pro-independence demands and the defense of the Catalan language during an internationally broadcast event.
