The ERC spokesperson in Barcelona, Elisenda Alamany, rejected on Monday the proposal by Gerardo Pisarello to form a broad left-wing front including the PSC and CUP for the 2027 elections.

The Republican leader responded to the BComú candidate's initiative by emphasizing the need for clear political identities. Elisenda Alamany argued that the focus should be on addressing the needs of Barcelona residents rather than simply merging party acronyms.

"This is not done by joining letters and acronyms, nor with a fruit salad."

Meanwhile, the CUP has also distanced itself from the proposal. Spokesperson Ángel Camacho stated that while they are open to dialogue with the Comuns, they strictly exclude the PSC from any alliance, accusing Mayor Jaume Collboni of being part of the city's problems regarding mass tourism.
Elisenda Alamany is set to be officially ratified as the ERC candidate this Saturday, while the CUP continues to meet with local social organizations to build an alternative political platform for the next municipal elections.
