Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) will demand that the municipal government of Barcelona, led by Jaume Collboni, implement a comprehensive plan to strengthen coexistence and security in the Poble-sec and La Marina neighborhoods.

The proposal, to be voted on next Wednesday in the Commission of Presidency, Internal Regime, and Security, outlines a series of initiatives in citizen participation, social inclusion, mental health, housing, and security. ERC considers it essential to address these issues in a coordinated manner to improve residents' quality of life.
The Republican proposal comes in the wake of recent events in the area, such as two fatal shootings in La Marina within a month, allegedly linked to drug trafficking, and situations of social vulnerability and homelessness on Montjuïc. ERC distinguishes these problems, arguing that organized crime requires a "firm hand," while social vulnerability necessitates "social measures."

Regarding security, ERC proposes a "fight against mafias and drug trafficking" through the dismantling of organized crime networks and the investigation of their international connections. They also suggest mapping critical points of sale and crime, utilizing the space of the Coexistence Table of La Marina.
In terms of participation and inclusion, ERC suggests establishing neighborhood monitoring committees in each area, incorporating civic agents for prevention and mediation, and promoting the recovery of public spaces. They also advocate for inclusion programs for young people and vulnerable individuals, and a reinforcement of community-focused neighborhood policing by both the Guàrdia Urbana and the Mossos d'Esquadra.
The plan also includes a community-based approach to mental health and addiction, with stable, multidisciplinary street teams operating daily in identified complex areas of Montjuïc, Poble-sec, and La Marina, coordinating social, health, and community services.
Finally, ERC calls for guaranteeing the right to housing, promoting public housing developments in La Marina and increasing the stock of social housing and places in programs like Housing First. They also propose strengthening early detection of families at risk of residential exclusion and improving mediation with large property owners to prevent residential exclusion.
