The ERC Federation in Barcelona has elected a new president, concluding a year of deep internal crisis marked by the resignation of most members of the previous leadership.

One year after the last elections that led to an unprecedented crisis, the ERC Federation in Barcelona is once again under the control of the party's official sector. The membership, with a census of 910 people and a 72% participation rate, has appointed Ricard Farin as the new president.
Farin, from the Activem Barcelona candidacy, secured 393 votes, representing 60.1% of the total. His opponent, a councilwoman from the Barcelona City Council, obtained 236 votes, or 36.1%. The councilwoman had been part of the former critical federation, which saw many of its members resign due to serious disagreements with the leadership.

"To leave the noise behind, overcome blocs and not reinforce them."

These elections bring an end to a turbulent cycle that began in 2023 and peaked in 2025 with a narrow victory for the critical candidacy. A few months later, a large part of the 13 members of the permanent leadership resigned, accusing the president of having a "self-serving strategy not agreed upon with the team".
The new leadership will have just over a year to consolidate the party's candidacy for the 2027 elections, where polls predict growth for the republicans. One of the key issues they will have to address is the relationship with the PSC in Barcelona, a matter that will likely require consultation with the membership.
Ricard Farin, a political scientist by training and born in 1995, has served as a district councilor in Horta-Guinardó and is an active member of the local ERC organization. He is accompanied as second-in-command by the coordinator of the ERC municipal group in the City Council, Núria Clotet. Other members of the candidacy include Montserrat Benedí, Elvira Durán, Carme Balboa, Xavier Garriga, Natàlia Garcia, Gerard Pijoan, Joan Carles Canela, Carlos Rodríguez Escuredo, Quim Sangrà, Núria Satorra, Tània Rafi, Jordi Fernández-Cuadrench, and Jordi Suñé.
