In addition to his appointment as president of the SRS, Dr. Pellisé has been awarded for the fourth time the Russell A. Hibbs Award for Clinical Science for research on the long-term evolution of patients with scoliosis. He has also been recognized in the international Stanford/Elsevier 2026 ranking for the impact of his scientific career, placing him among the top 1% of clinicians with the greatest global impact in orthopedics.
The Scoliosis Research Society, founded in the United States in 1966, is a leading scientific society in the diagnosis and treatment of scoliosis and other spinal deformities. Dr. Pellisé is the first Spaniard, second European, and fourth non-North American to chair it.
The Russell A. Hibbs Award recognizes the best clinical and experimental research presented at the SRS world congress. The awarded work, conducted within the international consortium HISTory-ESSG, analyzes the evolution of 700 patients from three continents thirty years after treatment, providing insights into very long-term outcomes.
Dr. Pellisé expressed his honor and responsibility in assuming the presidency of the SRS, as well as the encouragement derived from receiving the award again and seeing his career recognized, emphasizing the importance of international collaborative research to improve care for scoliosis patients.
