Improvement and renaturalization works on a section of the Llobregat River's riverside path in Sant Boi de Llobregat have finished, enhancing drainage for intense rainfall events.

The Sant Boi de Llobregat City Council has completed the renovation of a 700-meter section of the Llobregat River's riverside path. The primary objective was to adapt the route to prevent water and mud accumulation during torrential rain, thereby improving safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists.
The project, funded by Next Generation EU, involved removing the previous concrete pavement, which retained water, and creating new natural drainage systems. Drainage ditches have been constructed to channel water towards the river, and more permeable materials have been used for the path's surface to reduce puddling.
This initiative is part of a broader project to establish a sustainable tourist destination in the Llobregat Delta area. The renovated section is integrated into the Sant Boi Green Ring and the long-distance trail GR-270 Camí del Llobregat, a route frequently used by hikers and cyclists.
In addition to drainage improvements, native vegetation has been introduced, along with new rest areas featuring benches made from natural materials, better integrating the path into the river's landscape.
