Two unrelated incidents, occurring almost simultaneously, affected the electricity supply for nearly 87,000 customers in the Barcelona area. According to Endesa sources, the service has now been fully restored.
The first incident involved a fire in a transformer at a substation near the Hospital de Bellvitge at 00:22 AM. This issue left around 68,000 customers in Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona, and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat in darkness. The company resolved the situation in approximately 40 minutes.
Shortly after, at 00:31 AM, a breakdown at the Collblanc substation, also in L'Hospitalet, caused another transformer to disconnect. This second incident affected about 19,000 customers in the same geographical area and was resolved within about 20 minutes.
Although the total number of affected customers reached 87,000, the incidents occurred overnight when demand is lower and many businesses were closed, thus minimizing the overall impact.
