The Gavà City Council has significantly increased its investment in school aid for the 2025-2026 academic year, reaching a record figure of 231,164 euros. This allocation represents an increase of 28,000 euros compared to the previous year and is the highest in the last eight years, as communicated by the council. The increase has allowed for the granting of 2,400 aid packages, 395 more than last year, benefiting a larger number of students.
These grants primarily aim to alleviate the needs of vulnerable families, ensuring equal opportunities in education. The aid covers essential expenses such as the purchase of textbooks, participation in curricular outings, extracurricular activities, and the meal service at the municipality's two public nursery schools.
The funding line for curricular outings has seen the largest growth, reaching 51,100 euros, 14,300 more than the previous year, and benefiting 594 students. Textbook aid has also increased, with over 39,000 euros allocated to 463 children, covering books, workbooks, and digital licenses. Extracurricular activities receive nearly 52,300 euros for 391 children, also marking a historic high.
Regarding meal grants for public nursery schools, 45 children have benefited with an allocation of 28,967 euros. Additionally, the City Council provides a supplement to the Regional Council's meal grants, which this year have been received by 378 children with an amount similar to last year's. Aid is also available for summer activities and inclusion support in municipal summer camps.
