Gerardo Pisarello wins Barcelona en Comú primaries for Mayor

The current Vice President of Congress defeated Bob Pop with 68% of the votes for the upcoming elections.

MP Gerardo Pisarello has been elected as the Barcelona en Comú candidate for the next municipal elections in Barcelona after a clear victory over writer Bob Pop this February.

With 68.6% of the votes, Pisarello secured his position as the party leadership's favorite. The former deputy mayor received 1,046 votes, while Bob Pop obtained 27% of the support. A total of 1,525 people participated in the voting process out of a potential 9,000 members.

Pisarello ran alongside councillor Carol Recio as part of a mandatory tandem format. His candidacy was backed by prominent figures such as Ada Colau and Minister Ernest Urtasun. The official proclamation is scheduled for February 23rd.
