Barcelona City Council has completed the demolition of a large part of the buildings on the north facade of Plaça de les Glòries, an action framed within the urban reform of the area.

The works, which began in November 2025, have cleared a large space where century-old buildings were previously located. Currently, machines continue to remove rubble from a site that connects the Clot neighborhood with the Glòries park. According to municipal data, two-thirds of the properties affected by this remodeling project have already been addressed.
The overall project provides for the creation of nearly 26,400 square meters of new green areas. In addition to the demolition of around eighty properties, the plan includes the rehabilitation of the former flour factory La Ceres Catalana, which will become a future cultural center. In parallel, construction work for new housing on Diagonal Avenue continues.
Demolition tasks have required the removal of more than 10,400 square meters of asbestos. Although the initial forecast was to finish the work in May, the schedule is currently three months behind. Some properties located between Dos de Maig and Castillejos streets are still pending demolition and will be the next to be dismantled.
