Minister Mònica Martínez Bravo has requested to leave the executive for personal reasons, a decision communicated by President Salvador Illa before the summer break. Her position will be filled by the Secretary General of the department, Raúl Moreno, who will be officially appointed in the coming hours and will join the executive council meeting tomorrow.
The head of the executive highlighted that the new minister will maintain a continuity of management, ensuring the continuation of current social policies. Illa thanked Martínez Bravo for her "dedication and commitment" and described Moreno as a profile of "solvency, integrity, and knowledge of the social field".
Raúl Moreno, a graduate in social education with studies in geography, has a political career as a councilor for the PSC in Santa Coloma de Gramenet between 2003 and 2015, and as a deputy in the Parliament of Catalonia from 2015 to 2024.
Mònica Martínez Bravo joined Illa's government in August 2024, after leaving the General Secretariat of Inclusion at the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations. During her tenure, she led the reconversion of the former DGAIA, marked by scandals and accusations of undue payments, into the Directorate General for the Prevention and Protection of Children and Adolescents (DGPPIA). Her time in government has been characterized by living between Madrid and Barcelona for family reasons.
