The Barcelona City Council has approved the executive project for Vallcarca Central Park and launched the tender for 47 public housing units on Farigola and Mare de Déu del Coll streets.

The Government Commission approved last Thursday a key element for the Vallcarca redevelopment. The new green space, designed by Balleiroig, will feature an accessible route connecting Vallcarca Avenue with Gustavo Bécquer street. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2026 and conclude by late 2027.
The park's design follows the Arrels proposal by Carles Enrich, which won the 2017 ideas competition. The area will include three terraces for urban gardens, a picnic area with a photovoltaic pergola, and the restoration of the historic Manantial fountain.

"It was about time. One of the projects that had consensus has had to wait eight years."

Regarding housing, the city has tendered the design for two affordable blocks: 20 apartments at Farigola 10 and 27 at Mare de Déu del Coll 105. These developments are part of a larger plan to build 500 new homes in the area.
