Since Wednesday afternoon, Adif technicians have been working intensively to inject concrete into the sinkhole that occurred at the R2 tunnel works in Vallbona. The main objective is to cover the hole and stabilize the ground after the incident.
During the event, a large crane became submerged. The Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, José Antonio Santano Clavero, confirmed that the crane will remain in place, buried under concrete, for strict safety reasons. Moving it, according to technicians, would generate unnecessary risks. Concrete injection will continue around the clock for the next 24 hours.
The government has sought to reassure residents, stating there are no impacts on nearby buildings or homes. All protocols have been activated to detect potential anomalies, although they are considered unlikely. The ground, despite being well-studied, has behaved unexpectedly. Causes are being prudently analyzed pending technical assessment. Meanwhile, services on lines R2 and R11 remain suspended as a precautionary measure.
The City Council and Adif have set up an information point at the Casal del Barri for residents to address any concerns. The councillor for the Nou Barris district, Xavier Marcé, announced a meeting with residents for Thursday afternoon to ensure their peace of mind. Adif and municipal officials will provide updates on Saturday.
