High-speed rail traffic between Barcelona and Girona was restored this Sunday morning, following a twelve-hour suspension caused by a catenary failure at La Sagrera station.

The service was interrupted on Saturday at 7:00 PM when a long-distance train traveling between Figueres and Madrid came to a halt due to a technical issue with the power supply. The situation was complicated by the fact that the alternative track was closed for maintenance, leaving several long and medium-distance trains stranded at stations.
Emergency teams, including the Fire Department, intervened to evacuate the hundred passengers who were trapped inside the disabled train. During the suspension, Civil Protection activated the Ferrocat plan in pre-alert phase as a precautionary measure due to the service disruptions.
According to Adif, once the affected train was removed and the catenary repaired, rail traffic returned to normal this Sunday at 7:00 AM.
