The mobilization, organized by the Plataforma Aturem la Guerra, which includes about fifty organizations, raised its voice against support for the Israeli regime and the potential social consequences that increased military spending could have for European states.
The march began at Plaça de la Universitat and proceeded along Carrer de Pelai to Plaça de Sant Jaume, where a manifesto was read. Along the route, some participants displayed Palestinian flags and banners rejecting Israel, accompanied by chants against military expenditure.
“"We must seriously consider how not to depend on fossil fuels to ensure energy independence. We must also guarantee Palestinian rights, human rights, and international order, and continue to push for an end to Israel's apartheid."
Organizers and attendees also protested against the imperialism that, according to them, a former United States president has adopted since coming to power. The manifesto describes him as the «promoter of an aggressive imperialist policy, based on threat, force, and violence,» which can lead to «destroying peoples and civilizations.»
The mobilization placed a special emphasis on the situation in Palestine and Lebanon. Amidst chants and banners, what they consider a genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza was denounced, as well as the continued occupation and colonialism. The «impunity with which Israel acts» was criticized, and the severe humanitarian situation in Gaza was highlighted.
