The airline Iberia has officially ended the 99-euro price cap on economy class tickets between Barcelona and Madrid this Monday, following a period of railway infrastructure crisis.

The temporary limit was introduced to assist travelers affected by Adif high-speed train cancellations. Although the Madrid route returns to standard pricing, Iberia will maintain the cap for flights to Andalusia until March 8th due to recent rail accidents in that region.
This change coincides with Barcelona-El Prat Airport reporting record-breaking figures for 2025, reaching 57.5 million passengers. International travel now accounts for 75% of the total volume, driven by strong demand from Asia and North America.
