The National Police and the Italian Guardia di Finanza have dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to international drug trafficking operating in Barcelona and Catania this February.

The operation, coordinated by Europol and Eurojust, resulted in twelve arrests, six of which took place in Spain. The ringleader lived in Barcelona, where he allegedly managed the production of cannabis in indoor plantations and organized shipments to Sicily.
Officers seized 1,670 marijuana plants, firearms, and over 40,000 euros in cash. Furthermore, the financial investigation led to the freezing of assets valued at approximately one million euros, including a luxury home in Barcelona and several vehicles.
The criminal group used various methods to transport the drugs by road, such as hiding them in fruit and vegetable pallets or animal feed bags. In previous stages of the investigation, authorities had already seized over 900 kilograms of drugs, including a shipment found on a boat departing from Barcelona.
