The athletic event, held this Sunday through the city center, registered a record attendance of 17,200 participants, surpassing the 2013 figure. Moroccan marathon runner Douae Ouboukir set a new women's record with a time of 32 minutes and 52 seconds, improving her own mark from the previous edition.
From the start, Ouboukir led the race, taking advantage of the new route introduced last year. The ten-kilometer race began on Pau Claris street, passed through the Eixample, Sant Joan promenade, the waterfront, and Paral·lel avenue, finishing at Plaça de Catalunya. The runner crossed the finish line solo with a significant margin.
In the men's category, runner Roger Súria from Igualada won with a time of 29 minutes and 59 seconds. However, this time did not beat the record set last year by Australian James Whelan (29 minutes and 4 seconds).
The race saw the notable absence of elite ex-athlete Reyes Estévez, who had planned to participate at 50 years old after his debut last year.
